The men’s football event in the Rio 2016 Olympics has reached the knockout stage where eight teams will fight against each other in order to win the gold. Brazil, who failed to score in the first two matches, have progressed to the quarter-finals after the host nation registered a 4-0 victory overDenmark.

Despite the defeat at the hands of Brazil, Denmark have made it to the next round. These are the two teams from Group A. From Group B, Nigeria and Colombia have progressed to the last eight. Colombia sealed a berth by defeating Nigeria 2-0 in the last group stage fixture.

From Group C, South Korea and Germany made it to the quarters, while Portugal and Honduraswere the two teams to qualify for the next round from Group D. These eight teams will face each other in the four quarter-final fixtures and the winners of these clashes will make it to the next stage of the event.
